IFOMPT 2012 World Congress
In 2012 the IFOMPT Congress will be coming to Quebec City, Canada. The IFOMPT Congress takes place once every 4 years and rotates around the world, so it is a very special event to have within North America. Similar to the Olympics multiple countries bid to host the IFOMPT Congress and in 2008 the Canadian Academy of Manual Therapists (CAMT) was awarded the bid to host the 2012 IFOMPT Congress. The specific dates for the 2012 IFOMPT Congress are September 30 to October 5, 2012. Please click here to see the current brochure.CAMT has invited AAOMPT to collaborate with them within this conference and it is a very complex arrangement that has been discussed for several years between the leadership of the two organizations. If we choose to collaborate with CAMT, the monetary benefit would be minimal and quite possibly could end up costing us money, but this is difficult to know with certainty at this time. Having said that, the AAOMPT Annual Conference is an important contributor to our overall budget, but it does not create a tremendous profit since we reinvest much of the revenue into the quality of the speakers, the venue, the refreshments, etc. Therefore, removing the financial impact from the decision making process, moves the decision towards the impact of our choices on the future development of AAOMPT as an organization and keeping with our mission which includes collaborating with international associations.
At this time the AAOMPT leadership would like to invite the membership to provide your perspective of how we should move forward. We are presenting two options in the survey link below and we would like to hear your perspective, to assist us with our decision making.
